Your Desired Future Dashboard (DFD) is where you’ll track progress toward a long-term. If you don’t have a goal you’re aiming for you can learn more about strategic planning with our Strategic Planning course inside Elite or by reading Your Guide to Strategic Planning for Business (9 minutes).
Your desired future statement is a clear, focused statement that guides your business decisions for the year. It’s all about defining where you’re headed and what winning looks like for your company.
You’ll break it down into defining objectives and make sure you’re on track by creating specific key results. Then you’ll review your Desired Future Dashboard in your leadership team meetings so it stays top of mind as you move forward.
Here’s how everything will look in the Desired Future Dashboard:
With Ramsey AI, you can create a draft Desired Future Dashboard in seconds. Take a look at a sample DFD.

Key results are where you outline what it will take to hit your defining objectives. Think about what you can measure to make sure expectations are turning into real results. Typically, the owner of each defining objective sets the key results.
Your Ramsey AI-generated draft dashboard won’t contain any key results yet. To add a key result, click the New Key Result button.
To edit the key results:
1. Click the three dots to the right of your progress measurement
2. Select Edit.
3. Update the description or metric, and click Save.

- You can measure key results with a number or a simple complete/incomplete status. Currently, key result measurements and pacing statuses are updated manually.
Action items break down the work needed to achieve each key result and keep everyone clear on what needs to happen next.
Each action item should be owned by a team member and have clear deadlines. As tasks are completed, you’ll create momentum toward your key results and know the team is moving in the right direction.
To add an action item:
- Click the caret to the left of the action items section to open it.
2. Click New Action Item.
3. Create a description for your action item, assign an owner, choose a due date, and click Save.
Action items will show on the assigned team member’s action items page with Desired Future as their source and can be marked as complete there or in the Desired Future Dashboard.
